Go for a Daily Walk
Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 30 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Reduce Food Waste
Reduced Food Waste
I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during Drawdown Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation, and commit to reducing my food waste throughout the challenge.
Industry
Practice the 5 Rs
Recycling
I will practice the "5 Rs" — refuse, reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle — to reduce my waste more than I can with just recycling alone.
Health and Education
Learn about the Need for Family Planning
Family Planning and Education
I will spend at least 5 minutes learning more about the need for family planning globally.
Electricity
Learn More about Wave and Tidal Energy
Ocean Power
I will spend at least 5 minutes learning more about the energy generation potential of wave and tidal energy.
Buildings
Plan to Insulate
Insulation
I will spend 5 minutes finding out how to make my home more energy efficient through better insulation and weatherization.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Celina Almeida-Baia 10/08/2023 5:18 AMI have noticed that the more I walk the more energy I have throughout the day. I have enjoyed greeting people and the fresh air and scenery especially around this time of year. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? How do the needs of different people in different places compare to each other?
Celina Almeida-Baia 10/06/2023 5:28 AMFamily planning is the method that gives couples and individuals the ability to plan childbirth, and space and time pregnancies. The primary purpose of family planning is to eliminate unwanted pregnancies and arrive at the optimum number of children for any family through contraception and treatment of involuntary infertility. Apart from this, it also helps to abate the transmission of sexually transmitted infections and diseases. The importance of family planning in society is also evident from the fact that it reduces the infertility rates, thereby contributing to the overall social and preventive health of individuals and the wider community. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?
Celina Almeida-Baia 10/06/2023 5:24 AMWave energy is caused by wind blowing across the ocean’s surface. All that movement means ocean waters contain a huge amount of kinetic energy.
Tidal energy can be harnessed using underwater turbines, which are similar to wind turbines but with shorter, stronger blades. Water flowing through the turbine turns the blades, which turns a generator, producing electricity. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsWhat are some of the benefits of making your home more energy efficient?
