REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhich businesses that you researched are you excited to support? Are you already supporting businesses that you didn't know were owned by women, people of color, or immigrants?
Dakota Canzano 10/09/2023 11:53 AMI am super excited to support "The Naked Lemon" which is a bakery owned by Alessha Serrita Nedd. I already support and love "Fat Cupcake" which is a black-owned local business in Oregon. I love supporting businesses owned by women, people of color, and immigrants. It's important to support the community and empower local businesses and women. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat are the most pressing issues for women, girls, and trans/nonbinary people in your community?
Dakota Canzano 10/09/2023 11:48 AMThe most pressing issues I found for women, girls, and trans/nonbinary people in my community is finding a sense of community and belonging especially when it comes to school campuses. There is so much transphobic and homophobic harm experienced by LGBTQ2SIA+ youth in the United States. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksWhat recipe did you make and how did it turn out? Will you cook with seaweed again?
Dakota Canzano 10/09/2023 11:45 AMI made a Tuna Poke bowl with dried seaweed, avocado, crab salad, rice, and ahi tuna! It was delicious and I will definitely be making it again. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksWhat coastal site did you visit and what did you learn while there?
Dakota Canzano 10/09/2023 11:44 AMI visited Nye Beach and I learned that marine life conservation is extremely important after visiting the Hatfield Marine center for Oregon State University. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksMany states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?
Dakota Canzano 10/09/2023 11:43 AMIn the Columbia, it is advised to not eat any sturgeon or any resident fish. I only consume salmon which does not fall on this lost, therefore, my diet choice falls within these guidelines. Checking Oregon.Gov regularly for advisories is key when it comes to finding out which fish can be eaten versus what we should stay away from.
