REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
Angelica Clara 10/28/2023 9:07 PMIt's always great to experience new things, especially in nature. I think we gain a great appreciation for nature once we see everything it has to offer. Things like the birds singing, the oxygen the trees provide for us and the raw beauty it beholds. -
Angelica Clara 10/28/2023 9:00 PMOne of my favorite activities is going on nature walks with my boyfriend. I love experiencing nature and learning about new animals. The air is always so fresh and the crunching beneath my feet from the dirt is always comforting. I've spotted a lot of wildlife on these walks and have even learned some 'surviving in the wild' techniques as well. I think it's important to go out and experience nature once in a while because not only can it help with your mental health, but it can also open up the door to learning and seeing new things! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhy is it important that girls have equal access to education in order to reduce our global greenhouse gas emissions?
Angelica Clara 10/28/2023 8:45 PMEducation should be a human right. It should be something that everyone should have access to. -
Angelica Clara 10/28/2023 8:42 PMI am number one to advocate for free education for girls and women around the world. And while we have progressed as a country to where this can happen everyday, the same thing cannot be said for other places around the world. Education should be free for everyone just as much as things like food, water, and shelter should be. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksWhat coastal site did you visit and what did you learn while there?
Angelica Clara 10/27/2023 10:10 PMI went to Cannon beach a while ago and learned a lot. There's this large rock that sits at the center of the beach and is often the focal point of the attraction. It's also the home of many puffins that reside there and they constantly flock and circle this huge rock making quite the spectacle. -
Angelica Clara 10/27/2023 10:05 PMI often frequent pacific north west beaches like cannon beach and seaside due to living in Oregon. Although, I don't encounter seaweed a lot it's always amazing when I do. I always take the time to inspect it and admire it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityChanging lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! What's next for you?
Angelica Clara 10/27/2023 9:59 PMI think what's next for me is working on conserving more energy. Turning off lights that don't need to be left on and unplugging devices as well since those devices are still receiving power even if they're not turned on. -
Angelica Clara 10/27/2023 9:56 PMI usually prefer LED bulbs over regular ones. Those are the ones that are the most frequently used in my house. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat was the hardest item to reduce using or cut out that is plastic? Did you find a way to do it?
Angelica Clara 10/26/2023 11:15 PMThe item I've found most difficult to let go and have reduced in my life due to it's single use packaging is face masks. I love face masks they're rejuvenating and relaxing, but some of them contain a lot of plastic. It's a good thing I have found alternatives by making organic ones at home. You can make a lot of varieties of face masks with just ingredients you have in your kitchen like egg whites, honey, turmeric, ect. And it's better for you too! -
Angelica Clara 10/26/2023 11:04 PMI'm constantly mindful of single use plastics. It's often difficult to avoid since I usually go to asian markets when it comes to certain items I'm purchasing. I noticed when it comes to items commercialized in Asia there's heavy use of plastics because everything is usually individually wrapped and that's including produce.
