  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Health and Education
Which businesses that you researched are you excited to support? Are you already supporting businesses that you didn't know were owned by women, people of color, or immigrants?

    Elena Ferraiuolo 10/10/2023 11:21 PM
I found out I am already supporting several businesses, mainly clothing or beauty brands, that are owned by women. But I also discovered several restaurants such as Pilos Bakery and El Patron which are immigrant owed restaurants in the Corvallis area I am excited to try.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
What did you learn about indigenous peoples' land management that you can apply in your own life?

    Elena Ferraiuolo's avatar
    Elena Ferraiuolo 10/10/2023 11:13 PM
A very large portion of indigenous peoples’ land management techniques revolve around preservation and respect of the land. Seeing the land not as something belonging to one person, but rather something we get to admire and benefit together not only is a good reminder for land usage, but also for being generous in life.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Clean air, clean water and healthy food are just three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons? How could/does regenerative agriculture positively impact you and your community?

    Elena Ferraiuolo's avatar
    Elena Ferraiuolo 10/10/2023 11:09 PM
Regenerative agriculture also helps prevent land erosion and loss of biodiversity. This is not only beneficial for the environment as a whole, but preserves natural environments for animals as well as for people and local communities to admire.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Coastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks
Many states and countries have advisories on eating fish. Find out what is advised for your region. Do you think your diet choices fall within these guidelines? What steps do you need to take to make sure that they do?

    Elena Ferraiuolo's avatar
    Elena Ferraiuolo 10/10/2023 11:01 PM
The Oregon Heath Authority advises that not it is important to have a variety of seafood in your diet and to not only eat the same fish. More specifically, no more than four meals per month should come from fish local to the Willamette River such as carp, bass, and catfish.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Industry
How could you incorporate other "Rs" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "Rs" make you feel?

    Elena Ferraiuolo's avatar
    Elena Ferraiuolo 10/10/2023 10:56 PM
Thinking about the other R’s, mainly reuse, repair, and repurpose, makes realize there is a lot more I could be doing to help and I start to feel motivated to make more responsible decisions that incorporate the other Rs, not just recycling.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Dependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?

    Elena Ferraiuolo's avatar
    Elena Ferraiuolo 10/10/2023 10:43 PM
Supporting local farmers inspires me the most because I feel by doing that, dependable fresh food and more reliable local food systems will come into place as well!
