Watch the short video below to learn the basics.
You'll be an Drawdown Ecochallenge expert in no time!
Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 50 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Multiple Transportation Solutions
I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, and I will only use muscle-powered transportation for all other trips.
High-Speed Rail
I will spend at least 40 minutes researching and advocating for a comprehensive high speed rail network in my country/region.
Improved Cattle Feed; Improved Manure Management
I will spend 30 minutes researching cattle feed and manure management, or visiting a dairy farm to learn about their farming practices.
Walkable Cities
I will find out who in my city makes decisions that impact neighborhood walkability and express my support for better walking infrastructure.
Temperate Forest Restoration
I will plant 2 trees in my community, public parks, or backyard.
Improved Fisheries
I will ask my local seafood market or grocery store if their seafood is sustainable and share the Seafood Watch resources so they can stock sustainable options.
Reduced Food Waste
I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during Drawdown Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation, and commit to reducing my food waste throughout the challenge.
Sometimes protecting nature requires feeling connected to nature. I will invest 50 minutes in exploring and appreciating a natural area in my region, whether a forest, wetland, coastal area, or somewhere else.
Multiple Solutions
I will support a community garden by volunteering, donating, or advocating for a new or existing one.
Plant-Rich Diets
I will source 20 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?
