REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityChanging lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! What's next for you?
Megan Huber 10/05/2023 7:23 AMLooking into insulation options available for my home - it's plaster on brick so want to see what we can do to keep cold/heat in depending on the time of the year as my ac/furnace run constantly. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsHow can you share what you have learned in your research with others?
Megan Huber 10/05/2023 7:21 AMThe biggest thing that applies I think to the average homeowner is the rebates that exist at the local/state and even national level to retrofit various things in your home (add solar, heat pump, upgrade and replace other home systems to more efficient products). -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHow difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Megan Huber 10/05/2023 7:08 AMI don't drink coffee so that part was easy, but the palm oil and cocoa are a bit more challenging. Palm oil you have to look for RSPO certified which luckily many up-and-coming (and bigger) brands are using these days. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseClean air, clean water and healthy food are just three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons? How could/does regenerative agriculture positively impact you and your community?
Megan Huber 10/03/2023 10:35 AMHelps to better use the land and keeps it nutrient dense for years to come. Instead of stripping nutrients out of the soil, agriculture practices restore the soil each year preventing it from becoming unusable in the future. This helps keep the carbon in the ground and the ground itself more productive. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Megan Huber 10/03/2023 10:34 AMIt may not always be bad when it hits it's best by date, but I can just be a little more aware to see if I could actually use it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat was the hardest item to reduce using or cut out that is plastic? Did you find a way to do it?
Megan Huber 10/03/2023 10:33 AMPlastic bags - switched one to a compostable but sometimes that doesn't work for all of them. Have to still think that through. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Megan Huber 10/03/2023 10:32 AMLoving the leaves changing now that we're really getting into the fall and the temps have been absolutely perfect.
I do think more 4-way stops would help the neighborhood be more walkable.
