REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhat was the most interesting thing to learn about sustainable aquaculture practices?
Mindy Jones 10/27/2023 5:18 AMI am impressed with how fast aquaculture has grown. I first heard about this in the late 90's. It was making waves in creating more sustainable seafood. Now, seafood raised like this can be found in the grocery stores. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Mindy Jones 10/26/2023 6:18 AMUsing smaller plates hasn't made much of a difference. It is difficult to make just dinner for two. I do use leftovers as lunch the next day. That only goes so far. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseIn North America, up to 65% of food waste happens at the consumer level. Chef Steven Satterfield advocates for utilizing every part of a vegetable. How can you incorporate using an entire vegetable, including the skins, tops, and stalks during your next meal prep?
Mindy Jones 10/26/2023 6:16 AMI recently used some onions that were about to go bad to make a French Onion soup. I can't wait to have this for lunch -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryHow close is the nearest climate-friendly supermarket to your home? How could you encourage local supermarket to reduce or phase out their use of HFC refrigerants?
Mindy Jones 10/17/2023 12:04 PMI wish there was one in my area. My area's policies don't encourage things like this. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Mindy Jones 10/05/2023 11:41 AMI had to educate my husband on this. He really didn't believe me at first. After a bit of discussion we made some changes. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksBeyond carbon sequestration, what other benefits do forests offer you personally?
Mindy Jones 10/05/2023 5:51 AMI really enjoy hiking with my husband on the weekends. It's such a great way to de stress and get away for just a few hours or a whole camping trip. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Mindy Jones 10/04/2023 10:24 AMI do enjoy the walking. It gives me another excuse to get some more exercise in. The cars drive a bit too fast in the area. They make me nervous sometimes.
