Linda Kopp 10/27/2023 9:17 PMI was in a plastic-free challenge earlier this year and was not very successful at it. When this Eco-Challenge came around, I wanted to give it another shot. It helps that I can see the days I have/have not checked in.-

Linda Kopp 10/27/2023 7:58 PMI read about Mac and Mo who were two gorilla twins born at the Columbus Zoo 40 years ago today. By recycling our phones, chargers, iPads, etc., that keeps coltan, which is mined in the Congo and thus destroys land where gorillas live. These products also do not end up in a landfill, which makes it a win-win for gorillas and us.-
Elizabeth Ellman 10/28/2023 4:46 PMWho knew that saving the gorillas was as easy as recycling our electronics... kind of. Not really. But so interesting; thanks for sharing!

REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat are some more "Rs" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?
-
Linda Kopp 10/22/2023 5:47 AMI worked Boo at the Zoo last night, and a new thing this year was for all candy wrappers to be recycled after use. There was a recycling bin by our station as a reminder.-
Linda Kopp 10/27/2023 8:09 PMUsually people left our table and ate their candy afterwards. When they did, the wrapper, I think, ended up on the ground. I volunteer again tomorrow, so the plan is to remind people, when they get their candy to recycle their wrappers in the box next to each table. -

Linda Kopp 10/16/2023 2:35 PMI read yesterday about deforestation, but it does not have me checked in. I am still having trouble on the site or going back and filling in days missed. It’s frustrating.-
Elizabeth Ellman 10/16/2023 5:58 PMI'm sorry to hear it's been frustrating Linda--I applaud that you're still trying! Feel free to send me an email if you'd like me to try to troubleshoot. Be proud of all you've done and that you're ranked 261 out of 3000+ participants! -

Linda Kopp 10/11/2023 1:18 AMI read about World Okapi Day instead of cows. Okapis are related to giraffes and are endangered, primarily because of the deforestation of their homes. To help them, recycle your old cell phones so a part in them can be used to make new cell phones. Also, plant trees since that is what okapis eat. As a matter of fact, plant trees always as they put oxygen out in the environment.-
Linda Kopp 10/11/2023 1:29 PMI forgot—one of the best ways to help okapis is to wear sustainable jewelry! That does not include gold or silver—I think because they’re mined. -
