REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityAfter you determined your carbon footprint, did you see what different choices you can make in order to reduce it?
Emily Lesh 10/31/2023 7:16 PMAfter determining my carbon footprint I saw many different changes I could make, such as using reusable coffee cups and water bottles, using real silverware instead of plastic cutlery, carpooling to stores close to my campus, and using reusable bags when shopping. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationWhat was an inspiring thing you learned in Drawdown's Climate Solutions 101 Series?
Emily Lesh 10/31/2023 7:08 PMSomething inspiring from this article was how everyone can make a difference. Even the smallest change in a routine or how you purchase items can add to the improvement of the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
Emily Lesh 10/31/2023 8:29 AMOne of the most interesting things I read in this article was, "Getting people or things from Point A to Point B: In some ways, transportation is incredibly simple. Humans would be stuck at the speed of walking, running, swimming, or horse if it weren’t for planes, trains, automobiles, buses, bicycles, and boats. Mobility has played a critical and complex role in shaping society, and the demand for it is only growing."
I know it's such a simple concept and is an obvious statement but it made me think of what life would be like if technology didn't advance. It's easy to imagine it while walking to classes, however, it's a little bit harder to picture what life would look like if I had to walk to Walmart every time I needed something. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat actions will you take to green your job?
Emily Lesh 10/31/2023 8:26 AMI decided to change the question into what actions can I take to green my organizations on campus. In my campus involvement, I can make the conversation open and engaging involving how we can make smart sustainable changes in the club. I can also create a sustainable snack night where we try different sustainable snacks that could include plant-based snacks. We could also partner with other on-campus clubs that are designated to help make the campus a greener environment. -
Emily Lesh 10/31/2023 8:19 AMIt's the last day of the Eco-Challenge for this month. I am so happy that I was able to participate and learn more about the sustainable impacts I can create and how to maintain a sustainable lifestyle in college! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryHow close is the nearest climate-friendly supermarket to your home? How could you encourage local supermarket to reduce or phase out their use of HFC refrigerants?
Emily Lesh 10/31/2023 8:17 AMI noticed that the closest climate-friendly supermarket to my college town and my home town is Aldi. Aldi's is a HFC-Free or GreenChill Platinum company. I also noticed that on the map it said the closest Aldi is 30- 40 minutes away from my college. However, there is one about 15 minutes away not on the map. I personally like to shop at Aldi I find that they have good food for good prices. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Emily Lesh 10/26/2023 9:02 AMI have noticed how much the trees change color, and how different the weather is in my college town compared to my home town.
