Kendall's actions
Coastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks
Visit the Coast
Macroalgae Protection and Restoration
I will visit a coastal or ocean site to experience the ecosystem and look for the presence of macroalgae/seaweed.
Industry
Recycle Everything I Can
Recycling; Recycled Metals; Recycled Plastics
Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, including electronics and metals.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Eat Mindfully
Reduced Food Waste
I will eat all of my meals without distractions, e.g., phone, computer, TV, or newspaper.
Land Sinks
Buy Bamboo
Bamboo Production
When they are available, I will purchase products made from bamboo instead of wood, plastic, or metal.
Health and Education
Share to Social Media: Health and Education
Family Planning and Education
Through social media (LinkedIn or Instagram), I will share what I've learned about gender inequity in education and tag Ecochallenge.org.
Transportation
Go for a Daily Walk
Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 45 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Composting
Composting, Reduced Food Waste
I will start a compost or worm bin where I live.
Coastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks
Smart Seafood Choices
Ocean Farming
I will visit seafoodwatch.org and download the app to commit to making better seafood choices for a healthier ocean.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
Kendall Ly 10/12/2023 7:39 PMAll of these kinds of waste motivate me, but especially land and water because of how valuable these are and will be as well as how important they are -

Kendall Ly 10/11/2023 10:48 PMI haven't had the chance to visit yet, but I plan to go to the aquarium to learn more about their sustainability and conservation efforts -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksAre bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?
Kendall Ly 10/11/2023 10:45 PMThere are bamboo alternatives available, but if not some other sustainable alternatives is to reduce the amount of plastic products purchased -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryHow could you incorporate other "Rs" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "Rs" make you feel?
Kendall Ly 10/11/2023 10:43 PMI think I can decrease the amount of online shopping I do and go to thrift shops more often. I also will continue to donate old items rather than just throwing it away. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and EducationHave you been sharing what you learned throughout Drawdown Ecochallenge? How have people responded?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
Kendall Ly 10/11/2023 10:40 PMMy eating experience is now more enjoyable because I feel like I'm more present and appreciative of not only the meals I cook, but also I am more aware of the taste, ingredients, and the process it went through to get on my plate.
