Jeanne Poirier 10/16/2023 7:45 PMHad a recent visit again with praying mantis, always tingles me to see them and commune with them. They sit still far longer than I do :)

Ariana McCann 10/20/2023 3:06 PMThis challenge has made me hyper-aware of "green" advertising and product labels. It's nice to see companies trying to make a difference but read the fine print because many are still giving us lip service.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseHave you ever had a significant experience in nature that altered your perspective or focus? If so, please describe it.
Ariana McCann 10/16/2023 7:09 PMI have them all the time. My favorites are how time seems to slow down dramatically when inspecting plants for new growth or watching an insect work their magic. It’s all such a beautiful dance and miracles can be seen everyday. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhile dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?
Ariana McCann 10/16/2023 7:07 PMThis is helping me to slow down and enjoy every bite a little more. And in between, there’s been more conversations with my kids. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryHow close is the nearest climate-friendly supermarket to your home? How could you encourage local supermarket to reduce or phase out their use of HFC refrigerants?
Ariana McCann 10/09/2023 6:44 PMUnfortunately, the closest HFC free supermarket to me is either in St. Louis or Chicago. Aldi is doing the best in their time-bound commitment to end using HFC refrigerant in their stores, over any other company in the U.S. The second was HyVee with just over half of their stores in compliance.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseHave you been sharing what you learned throughout Drawdown Ecochallenge? How have people responded?
Ariana McCann 10/09/2023 6:31 PMI'm actually kind of disappointed that no one responded to my invitation to join the drawdown challenge. Some other posts have gotten minor traction. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationList some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Ariana McCann 10/09/2023 6:28 PMNot only is it possible but it's also a great way to spend time with a friend or family member. -
Ariana McCann 10/02/2023 3:38 PMIt’s nice being more aware of the difference we can make with even small changes in our daily lives. And usually we are both helping the planet and ourselves as well!
