REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Dorothy Olson 10/31/2023 7:43 AMI had never heard of silvopasture before. I think that the biggest advantage of silvopasture is that the cows get shade all throughout the summer time and that they will get better nutrition from being under the shade. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Dorothy Olson 10/30/2023 7:59 AMNow that i know that expiration dates does not mean that the food is spoiled and bad, I will start evaluating the food if it is past the date and then if it is still good i will eat it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHow is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?
Dorothy Olson 10/30/2023 7:32 AMMy diet is mostly unhealthy foods that are not good for the environment and a lot of meat. I plan to start eating better foods that don't impact the environment as much and start choosing the options with the correct labels.-
Jeanne Poirier 10/30/2023 8:34 PMNot sure what a correct label does, but good luck on this! Food is huge in impact and in waste. Thanks for being here and for sharing.

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityHad you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!
Dorothy Olson 10/25/2023 7:40 AMI have only heard of biomass technology using cow poop but I hadn't heard of using wood or plastics and that surprised me. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Dorothy Olson 10/24/2023 7:47 AMFor passive geothermal lawmakers can give property owners incentives like tax credits which will reduce the money they spend out of pocket to get passive geothermal installed in their buildings. For active geothermal energy lawmakers can pass policies that can help businesses pay for large scale active geothermal power plants to be built. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
Dorothy Olson 10/06/2023 7:29 AMMicroturbines could be put on the court house because it is tall and will get good wind.
