Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?
-
ANGIE RAPOSO 10/31/2023 3:53 PMI have completed my daily and one-time actions for this challenge! Lots of good information. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
ANGIE RAPOSO 10/31/2023 3:52 PMThis information definitely peaked my interest. I will have to do more research on how this could benefit me in my area. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildingsWhy is taking action on climate change important to you? Why do you care?
ANGIE RAPOSO 10/31/2023 3:43 PMI feel like if everyone does a little bit, it will help. We need to keep our planet beautiful for our future children and grandchildren and further on. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?
ANGIE RAPOSO 10/31/2023 12:56 PMIt's been a form for a long time, but electricity is expensive to run. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksHow feasible do you think it is for society to build with agricultural waste products?
ANGIE RAPOSO 10/31/2023 12:03 PMMaybe but I don't think it can be used for building in every area. I think type of weather in certain areas would be a factor. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityHad you ever heard of biomass technology before you took this challenge? What did you learn that surprised you? Share your new knowledge with your friends!
ANGIE RAPOSO 10/31/2023 11:57 AMI had never heard of biomass. But it was interesting to learn what materials create biomass. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseClean air, clean water and healthy food are just three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons? How could/does regenerative agriculture positively impact you and your community?
ANGIE RAPOSO 10/31/2023 9:32 AMI'm not sure it's the best thing to do. I have spoken to farms that have mixed feeling about this process in our area. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksCan biochar provide additional benefits besides sequestering carbon?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhat did you learn from visiting or researching a dairy farm?
ANGIE RAPOSO 10/31/2023 8:43 AMLiving in the central valley I see dairies all the time. Never really thought about the effects of the lagoon. Such a simple way to help is to cover the lagoon. But I do like the idea of spreading it in the crop fields. Good for the fields and a good way to dispose of some of it. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryConcrete is a good example of a material that most of us encounter every day, but its carbon footprint may not be obvious. What other everyday materials might have a large carbon footprint? How can you find out more?
ANGIE RAPOSO 10/31/2023 8:38 AMI never even thought about concrete being bad. We use it for so much. Not sure the options they are listing would be a good substitute.
