Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseWhat did you cook and how did it turn out? Can you share a recipe on the feed for others to try?
joselynn Robbins 10/25/2023 10:30 AMI went to a food market and bought fresh fish. It was delicious, I made a lemon salmon with rice. salmon with pepper salt lemon garlic, on a pan and put in the oven at 350 for 15ish minutes or until the oils start to pool out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat inspiration and wisdom can you gather from your family, faith, or community traditions that would help you in both communicating about and addressing our most pressing energy issues?
joselynn Robbins 10/18/2023 1:04 PMThe inspiration and wisdom that I can gather from my community traditions that can assist in talking about energy issues would be to use their language and bring up topics that they are interested in or care deeply about. I brought up how much energy it is to be watching TV and on their phone with all the lights on in the house and everything pluged in. Once I pointed out what they were doing they were a lot more accepting in changing those specific habbits. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksWhy is protecting the seafloor important?
joselynn Robbins 10/09/2023 12:53 PMThe ocean floors hold ecosystems together and even house many animals. Its ripping up new coral that could have the potential to become giant and harbor even more animals that can help balance out the ecosystem. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryWhat are some more "Rs" you could add to your daily practice to reduce your waste?
joselynn Robbins 10/09/2023 12:49 PMIm trying to reuse products and cloths more or give them to other people to also use. Im tring to recycle as much as I can. I just got bottle drop so thats pretty cool. get some extra money while also not just throwing away my bottles. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseMindful eating is healthier for us than eating with distractions. How does your eating experience differ when practicing mindfulness?
joselynn Robbins 10/09/2023 12:43 PMIll be honest Its a lot more boring then eating with entertainment. It lets me think about what im eating more and Im recovering from an eating disorder so its a bit hard do this. I need to be distracted from my eating so I dont get grossed out and stop eating, but I know how much energy I use by watching something on my phone or tv. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?
joselynn Robbins 10/05/2023 10:55 AMI learned that if done correctly it can be greatly beneficial. Using the natural waves and currents of the ocean to create energy could be one of the most reliable energy sources. With solar panels, its not always sunny. Wind turbines, it's not aways windy. The ocean will always have currents everywhere, even just other moving waterways. Damms, river mills, for example. The only downside is finding a powerful enough ocean current and building a machine to be placed down there. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONIndustryHow can you express your personality, creativity, and values in ways that don't require fast fashion or buying more clothes and accessories?
joselynn Robbins 10/05/2023 10:51 AMThe best sustainable ways I've seen to avoid fast fashion is to go thrift shopping, hand me downs, and using those 'fast fashion' items to their fullest potential. Especially, that last one can be greatly effective. Yes, the material might not be fantastic, but I would say it's better to use it for a long time then to use it then toss it like the 'fast fashion' title wants us to do.
