REFLECTION QUESTIONCoastal, Ocean, and Engineered SinksCan biochar provide additional benefits besides sequestering carbon?
Bex! S 10/24/2023 1:58 PMCan improve crop yields by improving the soil. If agricultural waste is used, provides an outlet for those materials. But biochar is very different than some of the other things I've learned about this month (silvopasture, peatlands); biochar seems to be a very hands on and industrial activity; whereas silvopasture and peatlands seem more about leaving land as it naturally is. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

REFLECTION QUESTION

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand SinksHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place -- your deep knowledge of and appreciation for your surroundings?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood, Agriculture, and Land UseClean air, clean water and healthy food are just three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons? How could/does regenerative agriculture positively impact you and your community?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Bex! S 10/04/2023 9:16 AMI've been walking (or biking) to the near by community college this week and the infrastructure is so unfriendly! The access from my neighborhood onto the campus is terribly - no direct pedestrian/bike route, instead a poorly designed convoluted sidewalk ramp. It's only an 8 foot portion of the walk, but it's not designed to bring any joy at all to non-car visitors. -
Bex! S 10/04/2023 9:10 AMGrey days aren't filling the motivation cup very well. Argh!
