Plant-Rich Diets
I will source 20 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Improved Fisheries
Using the Seafood Watch guide, I will feature a sustainable seafood ingredient in a new recipe.
Composting, Reduced Food Waste
I will start a compost or worm bin where I live.
Family Planning and Education
I will watch Drawdown’s Climate Solutions 101 and share what I learned with others.
Public Transit
I will improve a bus stop in my neighborhood by posting the stop schedule, adding seating or shelter, adding art or flowers, picking up litter, or implementing some other small improvement.
Temperate Forest Restoration
I will plant 4 trees in my community, public parks, or backyard.
Conservation Agriculture
I will tend to a garden, or prepare for one, each day using sustainable gardening practices.
Reduced Food Waste
I will use smaller plates and/or serve smaller portions when dishing out food.
Walkable Cities
I will take a walk for 30 minutes each day and take note of the infrastructure that makes walking more or less enjoyable, accessible, and possible.
High-Efficiency Heat Pumps
I will spend at least 30 minutes researching heat pumps to see if installing one makes sense for my home/building.
Reduced Food Waste
I will spend at least 10 minutes learning how to differentiate between sell by, use by, and best by dates.
Sometimes protecting nature requires feeling connected to nature. I will invest 60 minutes in exploring and appreciating a natural area in my region, whether a forest, wetland, coastal area, or somewhere else.
Farm Irrigation Efficiency
I will prevent water runoff and increase absorbency by mulching the base of trees and plants in my yard.
As a team goal, we would like to encourage everyone to try at least one plant-based dinner a week.
As a team goal, we would like to challenge everyone to try a lower carbon footprint alternative way to commute to work at least once a week. Consider public transit, cycling or carpooling!
