REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? How do they compare to other energy sources?
Jody Tanori 10/26/2023 2:06 PMI didn't even know there was such a thing as wave and tidal energy, but if you think about it, yes! It makes sense to harness the power of water. Unlike other power sources, wave and tidal energy is very predictable. However, there are also concerns about disturbing sea life and the initial costs. Still a very fascinating topic to study further. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransportationWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
Jody Tanori 10/10/2023 11:40 AMThis topic jumped out at me as some recent family events have me needing to travel to Eastern Washington during the upcoming winter. I hate to add to the heavy traffic crossing the mountains, or having to fly due to snow. After researching, I found that travel by train is an option. Not only will this save me the expense & stress of driving or flying, but it also helps to reduce emissions.I also learned about the growing high-speed railway systems & their benefits here in the US and globally. High Speed rail lines are expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.26 to 3.62 gigatons by 2050, compared with flying.-
Katerina Kuznetsova 10/11/2023 9:22 PMYou can still get stuck in the snow on that train, Jody, but it will be warm inside and you can walk around! And they got bathrooms!
