Green My Job
Industry
Using Drawdown's Job Function Action Guide, I will learn about climate actions I can take at work.
Electricity
Solar Water Consultation
Solar Hot Water
I will contact a local installer/distributor to see if a solar water heater makes sense for my house.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Support Local Food Systems
Plant-Rich Diets
I will source 2 percent of my food from local producers each day. This could include signing up for a local CSA, buying from a farmer's market, visiting a food co-op, foraging with a local group, or growing my own ingredients.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Reduce Food Waste
Reduced Food Waste
I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during Drawdown Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation, and commit to reducing my food waste throughout the challenge.
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use
Zero-Waste Cooking
Reduced Food Waste
I will cook 1 meals with zero-waste each day.
Electricity
Choose LED Bulbs
LED Lighting
I will replace 1 incandescent lightbulbs with Energy Star-certified LED bulbs, saving up to $14 per fixture per year.
Electricity
Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy Credits
Onshore Wind Turbines, Utility-Scale Solar Photovoltaics
I will sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option. If my utility does not offer one, I will purchase Renewable Energy Credits to match my usage.
Coastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks
Learn about Biochar
Biochar Production
I will spend 30 minutes learning about biochar and how it can help sequester carbon.
Coastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks
Restore Wetlands
Coastal Wetland Restoration
I will volunteer 2 hours with a wetland restoration project in my region to learn about the importance of wetlands.
Coastal, Ocean, and Engineered Sinks
Visit the Coast
Macroalgae Protection and Restoration
I will visit a coastal or ocean site to experience the ecosystem and look for the presence of macroalgae/seaweed.
Transportation
Improve a Bus Stop
Public Transit
I will improve a bus stop in my neighborhood by posting the stop schedule, adding seating or shelter, adding art or flowers, picking up litter, or implementing some other small improvement.

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityYour utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your ZIP code, region, and/or state. What other steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
Srivathsa Voleti Venkata 10/30/2023 11:11 AMThere are several steps to reduce the electricity usage:-
1. Using the power when needed.
2. Usage of water indirectly impacts the electricity usage .
3. Using steps than elevator or lift.
4. I will use and prefer sunlight than using lights in the day time.
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricityDiversifying our energy supply and improving public health are just two benefits of renewable energy. What other motivators inspire you to consider installing a solar water heater in your home?
Srivathsa Voleti Venkata 10/30/2023 9:56 AMThe main reason of using the solar water heater was:-
1. In our home place most of the times we will be seeing the sun, sun will be there even in winter seasons and in rainy seasons.
2. Where we can get the hot water for long lasting time.
3, And it was the pure form of heating the water.
4. And one time investment, low maintenance.
