Firstly, it's important to make sure that the offset is real and verifiable - that you're actually supporting something that will offset your carbon emissions. It's also important to make sure that it is actually making a positive difference, and a permanent one. In other words, not just shifting the harm elsewhere or putting it off for a few...

How about "reheat"? Saving my leftovers for later instead of throwing them away so I don't waste food!

When I spend time outdoors, I find myself noticing the small things about my environment. Whenever I take the time to explore nature, I find something new that I hadn't noticed before. Especially now, in the fall, there is so much evidence of how the environment is constantly changing: from more obvious things, like the leaves, to more subtle...

I had been using single-use paper towels around the dorm, which I have substituted for washable and reusable cloths. I will continue to keep paper towels around, but aim to use them much more sparingly or avoid using them when possible

I've been continuing to recycle plastics and cardboards that I use in the dorm. I have also invested in a Brita water filter to cut down on my usage of plastic water bottles

If we know the differences between use by, sell by, and best by, we can know when food is actually bad, or when we can still eat it

I had never learned about biomass technology before this. I was surprised learning how effective it really could be as a pretty large energy source. I read about a study done in 2016 that determined the United States could create enough biomass to reasonably support a bioeconomy, and could produce around 1 billion dry tons of biomass annually...

I've seen some cool nature and enjoyed seeing wildlife. I went off campus to a river park and saw many snakes, frogs, and bugs that were all very important to the ecosystem. One thing I don't enjoy is walking on campus as much, this is because there is not a lot of trees and nature to look at, more just brick. I would like to see better trails...

Reusing: When I do get any trash, I try to figure out a way to use it again, like using old plastic containers to store something new. Reducing: I try to limit the amount of plastic and single-use items I buy and use on the daily.

You can save money by reducing your food waste, since you do not have to buy as much wasted food. Another good thing about smaller portions is that it is healthier and can allow you to eat better.
